Subject: Compliance with the Immigration Act 2026
All non-Tongan passport holders are hereby reminded of their legal obligation to maintain a valid permit while residing in the Kingdom.
- Enforcement: The Immigration Division has increased border and inland compliance checks. It is illegal to engage in employment, business, or study while on a Visitor’s Visa.
- Extensions: Visitors wishing to extend their 31-day stay must lodge an application at the Nuku’alofa or Neiafu office at least seven (7) working days prior to the expiry of their current permit.
- Penalties: Failure to comply will result in prosecution, fines, and/or compulsory removal from the Kingdom.
